CM approves to modify canal command area rules

Issues letter of appreciation to PSDF

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has in principle approved to modify canal command area rules of 1873 to utilise additional canal water.

While presiding over a meeting at his office which was attended by Irrigation Minister Sardar Mohsin Leghari, secretary agriculture and others, the CM said the new rules would be presented before the provincial cabinet for approval after endorsement from the cabinet standing committee for legislation.

The 150-year-old law would be updated according to emerging needs; he added and maintained that the necessary modification in canal command area adjustment rules would benefit the farmers.

The utilization of additional canal water would wholly benefit the agriculture sector; he spoke and explained that the action would be initiated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis on online applications for utilization of additional water. Secretary irrigation briefed the participants about the proposal.

Meanwhile, PSDF (Punjab Skills Development Fund) was awarded with a letter of appreciation by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, forits outstanding performance amongst public sector companies.

PSDF was acknowledged for its effective ability to deliver its mandate of providing market-relevant skills training to youth of Punjab on behalf of the government of Punjab. PSDF was lauded for continuously riving for excellence in this endeavor.

This year marks a decade for the organization, starting with operations in only 4 districts in Punjab today its funds trainings in all 36 districts and has successfully implemented trainings for Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and World Bank.
