Civil judge arrested for allegedly raping woman at his residence in Lower Dir

PESHAWAR – Police arrested a civil judge at the lower court for allegedly raping a woman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower Dir district.

A senior police official said that Judge Jamshed Kundi was arrested and the victim was also recovered from his official residence.

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) suspended the civil judge over the alleged misconduct. The accused has been sent on physical remand in police custody.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of the victim, the judge received gold jewellery worth Rs1.5 million from the woman three months ago on the pretext of getting her sister a job.

She said that Kundi called her on the morning of November 25, 2021, and excused himself from getting a job for her sister. He asked her to visit his home in Balambat area to collect her money.

When the woman went there, the judge raped her and did not return the money.

After she lodged a complaint with police against the judge, she was sent to the hospital for medical examination. Reports confirmed that the victims was raped while further investigation is underway.
