Customs Intelligence officers have seized 35 tankers of smuggled Iranian oil worth more than Rs.190 million in a grand operation against smugglers in Sheikhupura, Pakistan.

According to media reports, the operation was carried out with the support of the Intelligence Bureau and police at 14 dumping points in the “Machi Kay” area of Sheikhupura, where smuggled petrol and diesel were stored and supplied to different cities.

The operation was conducted following reports from sensitive institutions that a large network of Iranian oil smuggling and sales was operating in the area. Director Customs Intelligence Lahore Haris Ansari stated that indiscriminate actions are being taken against smugglers based on the decisions of the Apex Committee and the directives of Director General Faiz Ahmed Chadhar.

This is the latest success in Customs Intelligence’s ongoing crackdown on smuggling in Pakistan. In the past week alone, Customs Intelligence has seized smuggled items worth more than Rs. 1.20 billion.
