Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider marked the 71st birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto with a fervent tribute at a significant gathering held at the district council in Attock. Addressing a large audience, Governor Saleem Haider expressed the deep-rooted affection of Attock’s populace towards the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), underscoring the party’s historical achievements in the region.
Highlighting the challenges faced during Musharraf’s era, Governor Saleem Haider lamented the setbacks endured by the PPP but affirmed a resurgence in the party’s influence since then. He particularly noted the disparity where despite substantial investments in the Agricultural University of Attock, local students had not reaped commensurate educational benefits.
Governor Saleem Haider reiterated the commitment to perpetuate the legacies of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He extended gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the honor of serving as Punjab’s Governor from the province’s westernmost district.
The commemorative event, orchestrated by Imdad Malik, commenced with Quranic recitations and Naats. It featured prominent PPP leaders including district president Sardar Ashar Hayat, former NA-49 candidate Khurram Shazad, former PP-2 candidate Sardar Zulfiqar Hayat, and former PP-3 candidate Sardar Haider Ali Khan, among others.
Governor Saleem Haider unveiled plans for establishing an Engineering University in Jand and an NICD hospital in Fateh Jang, initiatives aimed at furthering educational and healthcare infrastructure in the region. He acknowledged his nephew, Sardar Haider Ali Khan, for his role in advocating local concerns.
