Opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said the nation will have to break begging bowl and will have to achieve economic independence now as begging bow and nuclear country cannot go side by side.
He said this while addressing a ceremony held in PML-N central secretariat here Friday on the occasion of 74th Independence Day of the country. He held Pakistan came into being under the revolutionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. He was extended several offers but he rejected all offers. Pakistan was achieved under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam by rendering sacrifices of life of thousands of Muslims. Millions of people were martyred. The water of the rivers turned red.
Now the era of degradation has come to end and era of respect has started. The enemy cannot cast evil eye on Pakistan, he remarked.
He went on to say today Pakistan is a nuclear power but there is begging bowl in its other hand unfortunately. Fire and water cannot go side by side. Begging bowl and nuclear power can not walk side by side. But still we are not getting rid of begging bowl. Begging bowl is sticking to us like blanket. If we don’t break begging bowl, then we can never become free independently.
Today the IMF pressure is so tremendous that the incumbent government could not raise the salaries of government employees. Corona is wreaking havoc, he added.
I-DAY WARRANTS RENEWAL OF COMMITMENT

He expressed these views while addressing a flag hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony at the Lahore General Hospital's Admin Block on the eve of August 14.
Professors, Medical Superintendent Dr. Mahmood Salahuddin, Director Emergency Dr. Rana Muhammad Shafiq, President Paramedical Staff Association Rana Pervaiz, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff were present in large numbers while the relatives of the patients also hoisted the green crescent flags and the doors and walls of the hospital were decorated with the national slogans. MS Dr. Mahmood Salahuddin also spoke on the occasion and highlighted importance of the Independence Day.
