RAWALPINDI – Fakhre-e-Pakistan Arshad Nadeem was recognized for First-Ever Olympic Gold Medal at Pakistan Army General Headquarters event hosted by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
ISPR said COAS General Syed Asim Munir hosted a grand ceremony at the Army Auditorium, GHQ. The event celebrated Nadeem’s historic accomplishment of winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a singles’ event and setting a new Olympic record.
The ceremony brought together a diverse array of sports teams and iconic Olympians, including members of the 1984 Olympic and National Hockey Teams, the National Cricket Team, Street Football Team, Army Polo Team, Visually Impaired Cricket Team, Women’s Goal Ball Team, as well as medal winners from the Commonwealth, SAF, and Asian Games. Participants from the Paris Olympics 2024 were also in attendance. Among the distinguished guests were sports legends such as Jehangir Khan, Isalah Ud Din, Shahbaz Senior, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisam-ul-Haq.
General Asim Munir praised Arshad Nadeem’s exceptional achievement, attributing his success to unwavering dedication, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The COAS emphasized Nadeem’s inspiring journey from modest beginnings to Olympic greatness, underscoring the values of hard work and determination.
Army Chief commended Arshad Nadeem’s accomplishment as a source of national pride and affirmed that the entire nation stands behind him. He further reiterated the commitment to supporting and empowering not only athletes but also the broader youth of Pakistan to achieve excellence and contribute to a prosperous future for the country. General Munir highlighted the significance of youth engagement, development, and entertainment as crucial elements for a vibrant and thriving society.
