ISLAMABAD – Fresh platoons of armed forces have been mobilised from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to tighten grip on protesters of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who are in capital.

On Friday, twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpinid saw strict security measures as government chalked out plan to deter supporters of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan from marching on the country’s capital.

To avoid any untoward incident, army units from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have been dispatched to fire up security operations in Islamabad and surrounding areas. This move aims to maintain public safety and ensure the protection of citizens as the city prepares for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.

Security sources report that these deployments are part of heightened measures to prevent disruptions. As people are in panic, security officials said no one will be allowed to disrupt peace or incite violence in this critical period.

The presence of military personnel is somehow needed for neutralizing potential threats to public safety. As federal government made twin cities paralysed, clashes erupted between PTI supporters and police while cops resorted to tear gas to disperse crowds.

Imran Khan’s sister among dozens of party members held during the clashes. As the protests continue, security officials remain vigilant, stressing the importance of maintaining law and order in the capital. The situation will be closely monitored in the days leading up to the SCO Summit.
