Army chief, Turkish minister discuss defence cooperation

Turkish Minister of National Defence Gen (Retd) Hulusi Akar called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest, including regional stability as well as defence and security cooperation, according to the ISPR.
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said that both countries share a great history of brotherly relations which is being transformed into an enduring partnership.
The Turkish minister commended the role of Pakistan for regional peace and stability, especially the efforts of Pakistan Army in battling the scourge of terrorism.
General Hulusi Akar also called on Gen Nadeem Raza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, in Rawalpindi. Matters of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation including measures to enhance the level and scope of military engagements were discussed during the meeting. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the deep rooted cultural and brotherly relationship between the two countries.
General Hulusi Akar (Retd) lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in fight against terrorism.
