Arfa Karim a torch-bearer for new generation: CM

Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Microsoft Certified IT Professional Arfa Karim is a torch-bearer for the new generation.

In his message on the death anniversary of Arfa Karim, he said “the daughter of the nation Arfa Karim is alive in our hearts even today”. She brightened the name of the country and the nation in the world at an early age, he said and added that the enlightenment which the talented daughter created in the field of information technology would remain bright forever. The CM said that Arfa Karim is a symbol of steadfastness and courage. Through her God-gifted talent and abilities, she made the world know that the Pakistani male and female children do not lag behind anyone in the field of science and technology, he said. We are benefiting from the information technology to the maximum for provision of relief and valuable services, he added. Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that Arfa Karim is the name of a mission which is linked to the maximum usage of information technology.

The 12th death anniversary of world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim Randhawa was observed Sunday.

She was born in a small village near Faisalabad on February 2, 1995.

Arfa Karim became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) at the age of just nine in 2004.

Karim’s name roared across the entire IT world for being the youngest to pass the MCP exam and she remained talk of the town throughout her life.

The owner of Microsoft, Bill Gates invited her to visit the company’s headquarter in the United States when she was only ten years old.

The genius brain won many awards and international recognitions for her brilliance in the world of Information Technology (IT).

She was awarded with the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology in 2005 by the then prime minister of Pakistan. She also received the Salaam Pakistan Youth Award the same year.

Arfa Karim was also decorated with the Pride of Performance award. A well-equipped software technology park has been named after her in Lahore.

Arfa Karim passed away on January 14, 2012 in Lahore at the age of sixteen following an epileptic attack.
