PESHAWAR – Awami National Party (ANP) leader Arbab Usman Khan raised concerns in the assembly regarding tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the Galiyat region, and the issue of illegal constructions at tourist sites.
The KP government, taking his question seriously, referred the matter to the committee for further action.
Arbab Usman Khan said that commercial and residential buildings are being built in the area.
“They replied to my question 180 plus and 115 commercial buildings have been built there but I want some visuals. Actually these could be seen through the Google maps,” said Usman Khan.
He also raised questions about levies and taxes from there to the national kitty.
“The construction, in my view, continued without approval,” he said while sharing his views on the floor of the house.
The ANP said that the answer of the minister is incomplete.
He pointed out that the regulations were defined but no definition was given regarding uphill and downhill while responding to query about the stories of the building.
“You are seeing the situation in Punjab because of the smog. So, we also need to keep in view the environment in KP,” said the ANP leader.
He said that building code must be brought to limelight and expressed concerns over the data regarding violations related to the buildings.
The lawmaker also emphasized upon trees and their preservation, and demanded the authorities to provide more details in this regard.
“Proper assessment is required. Ther are ambiguities regarding the buildings. Because I have seen many buildings which were built without approval,” he pointed out.
