ISLAMABAD – Punjab Rangers personnel, who suffered injuries during Islamabad protests last month, succumbed to injuries on Thursday.
Lance Naik Muhammad Tanveer was the latest armed forces personnel who died after being in a coma for around three weeks after violent clashes in capital.
Rangers officials confirmed Tanveer’s death in what is said to be the fourth casualty among paramilitary due to the violent actions of a political party members.
Last month, protests, led by PTI leaders, turned violent, with agitators attacking public property and causing massive damage. Three Rangers personnel lost lives when a vehicle crushed them on Srinagar Highway.
Islamabad cops reported that 11 of their officers sustained serious injuries during the unrest. Videos circulating on social media showed activists setting fires and engaging in vandalism during the protests.
Authorities have vowed to take strong legal action against those responsible for the violence and property damage.

These clashes between PTI protesters and security forces ended with PTI leadership, including wife of Imran Khan – Bushra Bibi – and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur, retreating from the Red Zone.
The protests, lasted three days, resulted in several deaths, including police officer and Rangers personnel. Security forces launched a major operation to disperse protesters, leading to widespread arrests and injuries.
