4th Anniversary of Victory Day of Azerbaijan celebrated
Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov has expressed gratitude to the people and the government of Pakistan for standing by Azerbaijan in war against Armenia and for supporting Azerbaijan’s just cause to get back the occupied regions from Armenia.
Pakistan has consistently honoured the friendship with Azerbaijan to the extent of refusing diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the occupation of the Azerbaijan lands, he said. Ambassador Khazar expressed these views while delivering the welcome address at a reception hosted by him to mark the 4th anniversary of the Victory Day of Azerbaijan being celebrated on Nov 8 (today).
It was in the fall of 2020 when most of the Karabakh region, which had been under Armenian occupation for nearly three decades, was liberated by Azerbaijan forces.
On Nov 8, 2020 the Azerbaijani army liberated the city of Shusha, and the date was later declared as Victory Day by a presidential decree.
Federal Minister for Housing & Works RiazHussainPirzada was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his address as Chief Guest, Riaz Pirzada on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan congratulated the Azerbaijan ambassador and his country’s citizens on the historic occasion. The people of Azerbaijan and Pakistan share common historical, cultural and religious affinities that closely bind us together, he said.
The minister said that over the 34 years of diplomatic relations, Pakistan and Azerbaijan have supported each other in every situation and stood together. He said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have enormous potential for enhanced trade and investment and both sides are committed to take this bond to new height.
Earlier Ambassador Khazar gave a background to the Victory Day telling the audience that the people of Azerbaijan were subjected to military aggression, occupation, ethnic cleansing, and genocide by Armenia. “Nearly 1 million of our people became refugees and internally displaced persons, yet we never lost our resolve,” he said adding “we stood by our commitment to peace, but at the same time made it clear that Azerbaijan would never accept the occupation of its lands”

We are honoured to be hosting COP29 in 2024, one of the largest environmental conferences in the world, underscoring the global respect and trust our nation has earned.
In a significant move demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, Azerbaijan has declared 2024 as the “Green World Solidarity Year.”
Pakistan is also an active partner and a delegation from the Climate Change Ministry is all set to leave for the moot to draw the attention of the delegates towards the devastating impact of climate change on Pakistan’s economy.
