As the resignations by the lawmakers of the parties belonging to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) gather momentum, JUI-F has taken a major step as all its members of the Senate and the National Assembly on Tuesday handed over their resignations to party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The JUI-F has 14 legislators in the National Assembly and four in the Senate. The party has also directed its members in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan assemblies to be ready to submit their resignations.
All component parties are expected to file reports about the resignations during the PDM meeting being held in Islamabad. Earlier in the day, the famous Khokhar Brothers of PML-N, MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar and MPA Saiful Malook Khokhar from Lahore submitted their resignations to the party high-ups. PML-N MNA Chaudhry Hamid Hameed from NA-66-(Sargodha-III) had become the first lawmaker to forward his resignation to the party leadership
Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar Punjab Assembly MPA from the PP-185 constituency, Basirpur, Depalpur Tehsil, Okara District also presented his resignation to the party. Iftikhar said he was the first PML-N MPA from Sahiwal Division.—INP
