The 13th Annual Diabetes Family Gala & Free Medical Camp was organized on the occasion of World Diabetes Day under the supervision of Akhuwat Health Services.
During the camp, tests, including HbA1c, Cholesterol, Sugar, BMI and uric acid, were performed free of cost. Thousands of patients were examined free of cost.
On the occasion, chief guest Spokesperson to Punjab Government Hasaan Khawar said that the services of the Akhuwat in terms of microfinance and education are commendable while the Akhuwat health services sector is also exemplary.
In view of the increasing trend of diabetes, the launch of Akhuwat Mobile Program is a need of the hour and it is hoped that the mobile program will also provide its services in peripheral areas and the government is with Akhuwat in this regard.
in his addressed, Chairman Ahuwat Dr Amjad Saqib said that Akhuwat is continued its work for education and good health while at the same time awareness among the general population is very important for living a healthy lifestyle. 547 million people worldwide have diabetes.
Unfortunately Pakistan is one of the leading country in the world in the prevalence of diabetes where one out of every four people is living with diabetes. The spread of diabetes has increased alarmingly in the country.
In 2021, Pakistan having 33 million people with diabetes more than 70% of the 2019 figures. Dr Mahrukh Asif said that due to diabetes, other diseases including stroke and heart attack are increasing.
