Assistant Director Anti-Corruption Khalid Mahmood was arrested on Wednesday for negligence in his duties, which led to the escape of a detained accused.
According to a spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Department, Mahmood was taking the accused to a local police station for detention when the accused’s associates managed to make him escape.
Mahmood did not put up any resistance and tried to cover up the escape. An investigation into the incident revealed that Mahmood was negligent in his duties and had failed to take adequate precautions to prevent the escape.
