PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub said that Imran Khan formed a committee for negotiations but it seemed the government is not interested in talks.
Speaking to the media at the Peshawar High Court, Omar Ayub said that the Al-Qadir Trust case hearing involving Imran Khan continued till late. He questioned why the hearing lasted so long when the court’s usual hours ended by 3 or 4pm.
The Opposition Leader also alleged that PTI workers are being kept in jails beyond capacity and declared, “We are not afraid of anyone.”
Omar Ayub remarked that the negotiation committee was formed by Imran Khan but it appeared that the government is not interested in holding talks. He said, “We are not going to anyone. If someone wants to negotiate, they can. If not, then so be it,”.
It may be mentioned here that for the past few days, the reports of negotiations between the government and PTI made headlines but there has been no official confirmation from either side about the commencement of talks.
In this context, the Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday that if PTI is serious, it should send a positive message to the government, identifying its committee and expressing its willingness to negotiate.
“We will then ask the speaker to facilitate the talks with the prime minister,” he added.
