The Punjab government has decided to take immediate practical steps to revive traditional, cultural and tourism activities. In-principle approval has been given to build an overhead bridge from Railway Station Lahore to Badshahi Masjid and a street for tourist interest in Lahore.
It has been decided to introduce night tourism while buffer zones will be set up to protect historical buildings and archeological sites, urban space for citizens will be restored in Lahore and seating cafes will be set up.
Citizens will enjoy European-style dining on sidewalk or roadside chairs, open-air food stalls and chairs will be set up on the Mall Road, and food and beverages will be sold on specially designed carts.
Certificates will be affixed on food carts to maintain food quality, Maryam Zamani Mosque will be constructed and repaired and restored to its historic condition, rim market will be shifted to another place and restored to its historic shape, said Punjab Chief Minister and approved the decisions.
On the other hand, the possibility of setting up a joint authority for the promotion of tourism has been ruled out.
