The 5th National Volunteer CERTs Challenge has been started at Emergency Services Academy here on Wednesday to give opportunity to volunteer Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) to exhibit Community Action for Disaster Response Skills including Mass Causality Incident (MCI), Light Search & Rescue, Basic Life Support & First Aid and Response to Fire and Water Emergencies.
A total 45 volunteer team, 15 teams on each day from 1st to 3rd December 2021 shall participate in three day Challenge from all provinces of Pakistan.
On the occasion, the message of the Director General Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer was conveyed to all teams by Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid Registrar Emergency Services Academy.
In his message DG Emergency Service said that “I welcome all volunteer teams in 5th National CERTs Challenge.
The Volunteers are real heroes of the nation, who assist in management of emergencies and safety promotion in their respective communities.
This Challenge has been organized to improve the emergency response capacity of volunteer community teams and promote volunteerism.
I acknowledge the services of volunteers for raising awareness and Ration Packs distribution to deserving people during the surge of corona virus.
I also congratulate the CERTs, who won the Inter-Union Council Competition and now they are representing their district at National volunteer CERTs Challenge.
The Emergency Service has also launched Rescue Cadet Corps and all students must join the Rescue Cadet Corps by downloading ‘Rescue Cadet Corps App’ for online registration, training, theoretical test followed by skill learning by Rescue Trainers at Rescue Station or Educational Institution. Earlier, Ms Deeba Shahnaz Head of Community Safety & Information gave a detailed briefing about three days of CERTs Challenge.
She apprised that a total of 45 CERTs/Volunteers teams from all over Pakistan will participate in three days challenge. Of them, 15 teams including from Lahore, Sahiwal, Narowal, Sargodha, Sialkot Warden, Jhelum, Chiniot, TT Singh, Pakpattan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Vehari, Nankana Sahib, , Hafizabad, Gift University Gujranwala participated on the first day whereas, 30 remaining volunteer CERTs shall participate on the second and third day respectively.
