ISLAMABAD – A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday morning.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicenter of the quake was Hindukush region, Afghanistan, and it occurred at 9:16 am.
Tremors were felt in Lower Dir, Bajaur, Malakand, Nowshera, North Waziristan, Swat, Buner, Mansehra, Swabi and others in the KP province.

In Punjab, the quake was felt in Sargodha, Mianwali, Multan, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar and Kamalia.
Meanwhile, earthquakes also jolted in Indian-occupied Kashmir and its surrounding areas.
According to Indian media, tremors were felt in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
