35 thousand wild olive trees grafting process completed

A private Organization President of Wana Welfare Association (WAWA) Rahmat Ullah Wazir along with other members while addressing a joint press conference at District Press Club Wana stated that the wild olive grafting campaign proved to be a revolutionary step for forest conservation, olive grafting will lead to general agricultural improvement and economic prosperity of Wana.

Olive grafting was started in Mohmand district and Khyber district under a special project of Department of Agriculture, Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On the special request of Wana Welfare Association, Provincial Secretary Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Javed Khan Marwat also included Lower South Waziristan under the jurisdiction of this project.

The President said that during this grafting campaign a total of “35798” trees were grafted in Lower South Waziristan. According to the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, there are about 500,000 wild olive trees in the area. President Rahmat Ullah Wazir said that the Agriculture Department has decided to graft 10,000 olive trees in Lower South Waziristan during this year’s monsoon campaign.
