225 new cases reported in 24 hours Dengue claims three more lives

The dengue virus continues to taking its toll on the citizens as three more patient succumbed to the infection here in the provincial metropolis during the past 24 hours. The City also reported 225 more cases of the virus on Thursday.

According to the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, the number of dengue patients in the City’s hospitals has now exceeded 1,810.

The department said that with three more deaths, the number of people died from the virus in the City during the last three months now stands at 70.

The health officials further said that hectic dengue surveillance activities have been carried out in the City, adding that the teams destroyed dengue larvae at 159 spots of the City during the last 24 hours.

As many as 110 cases of the virus were reported from different parts of Khyber Pakhunkhwa (KP) during the last 24 hours, thus taking the number of positive cases in the province to 9,613.

According to the KP health department, nine fatalities have been reported this dengue season. The department informed that 68 patients are currently admitted at province’s hospitals. “Of 110 more cases of the virus reported, 84 were from Peshawar, thus taking the number of existing patients in the provincial capital to 5068,” it disclosed.

Besides Peshawar, five cases of the disease were reported from Khyber. The health department informed that 216 people also recovered in the province during the last 24 hours.
