10,000 illegal foreign nationals identified in Attock

In a significant development, the Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatta, and the Regional Police Officer (RPO), Rawalpindi Syed Khurram Ali, chaired the 3rd meeting of the Joint Implementation Committee, where it was disclosed that a staggering 10,000 illegal foreign nationals have been identified in the Attock district. Moreover, 1,200 were found in Chakwal, 818 in Jhelum, and a staggering 12,000 in Rawalpindi district.

The data collection process regarding foreign nationals is currently underway in the Rawalpindi Division, and an operation to deport these illegal foreign nationals is scheduled to commence on November 1, 2023. A public relations officer conveyed this information to the media during a press briefing. The Commissioner, along with the RPO, chaired the meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, where they discussed the compilation of data related to foreign nationals residing across the division. With the government-imposed deadline fast approaching, the Commissioner emphasized that active measures would be initiated from November 1.

The Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers of the four districts within the division were directed to promptly submit their final lists of illegal foreign nationals to the Commissioner’s office. In addition, a specific location for gathering these foreigners was to be identified. According to the information collected thus far, there are approximately 24,018 illegal residents across the division.

The Commissioner revealed the following statistics: 10,000 illegal foreign nationals were identified in the Attock district, 1,200 in Chakwal, 818 in Jhelum, and a staggering 12,000 in the Rawalpindi district. An extensive awareness campaign was initiated by the administration before the upcoming grand operation. The RPO stressed that illegal foreign nationals must voluntarily depart from the division to avoid a widespread crackdown.
