Muslims are required to make Zakat al-Fitr, commonly known as Sadaqat al-Fitr, the amount given to the needy ones during Ramadan and before Eidul-Fitr.
All affluent Muslims, regardless of age, are required to make the payment at the end of Holy Month to ensure that underprivileged in society can enjoy the festivities of Eidul-Fitr. Zakat Al Fitr is given in the form of staple food items – rice or grains – equivalent to about Dirham 25 per person. though, Islamic scholars allow it to be given as money as well.
For the year 2024, UAE authorities shared guidelines for Zakat Al Fitr and Fidya amount for missed fasts during the month of Ramadan.
