Due to lack of literary commitment, various aspects of literature are weakening and we need to pay attention to this by highlighting literary contributions of our unsung writers, poets and men of letters.
This was stated by Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed former MD, National Book Foundation while addressing a dialogue with poet, writer, columnist Tariq Shahid at Pak Media Foundation under the auspices of Yaran-e-Sahafat -o-Adab, a literary organization.
Tariq Shahid has recently retired from the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) as PRO and is facing a number of hardships.
The introduction was given by Dr. Zahid Hassan Chughtai who highlighted Tariq’s contributions in different genres of literature and journalism as well.
Tariq Shahid talked about his life, work and literature and thanked the organizers for hosting reception for him.
Hameed Qaiser, Anjum Khaliq started the conversation. Farida Hafiz, Saeeda Tariq, Akhtar Tazeen, Basharat Ali Syed, Asim Butt, Sajjad Azhar, Afshan Abbasi, Qazi Arif Hussain, Dr. Sadia Kamal, Iqbal Hussain Afkar, Saleem Akhtar, Wafa Chishti, Mahmooda Ghazi, Mushkoor Ali, Gul Nazak, Mohammad Azam Raza, Faisal Khan, Imrana Komal, Muqrib Kazmi, Ahmad Bilal, Shahid Mansoor, Masood Iqbal Hashmi, Mohammad Owais, M. Saeed, Munir Ahmed, Farzana Khan, Atta-ur-Rehman Chauhan, Mohammad Sajid and a large number of literary and journalistic personalities had turned up to express solidarity with Tariq Shahid.
