Microblogging platform giant X, previously known as Twitter is facing disruption in Pakistan with users unable to access the app in parts of Pakistan amid widespread protests against election rigging.

Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf started a countrywide protest against alleged rigging in the elections after failing to form a government.

Authorities in the crisis-hit nation shut down the social app as Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar warned that any form of agitation, incitement for vigilantism will not be condoned.

As people are facing difficulties accessing social app X, former Twitter, the social media website is accessible using VPN.  Social media users reported the disruption, and people are using VPN services to access social media and streaming platforms.

Internet watchdog NetBlocks also confirmed disruption. It said live metrics show a new national-scale disruption to X/Twitter in #Pakistan amid escalating unrest and protests over allegations of election fraud, following a high-level resignation and public admission of vote manipulation by a senior election official.

This is a developing story, and will be updated…
