Vice Chancellor University of Home Economics Lahore, Prof Dr Kanwal Amin has said that we should first treat women as human beings than as a gender.

She said, in order to bracket women as a gender, we deny them most of the fundamental human rights.

She stated this while addressing a seminar on women rights during her visit to University of Okara on Thursday.

The UO Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, welcomed Dr Kanwal and hailed her contribution for the academic development of the UHE.

The speakers at the seminar discussed various challenges and opportunities regarding women rights in Pakistan.

Dr Zakar Said, “Instead of debating and drawing conclusion from borrowed western slogans, we have to work to ensure fundamental entitlements and rights of women”.

Dr Kanwal told, “We should first treat women as human beings than as a gender.

In order to bracket women as a gender, we deny them most of the fundamental human rights”.

Dr Kanwal, who is an information management expert, also visited the UO main library and reviewed the hardcopy catalogs and digital resources available there for the students.
