Women weightlifters from Wohaib Club scored 71 points to outnumber their nearest rival National Weightlifting Club, Punjab Stadium (43 points) and win the Lahore Distrcit Women Weightlifting Championship 2023 at the Weightlifting Academy Choiburji here on Monday. More than 35 female Weightlifters from Seven women’s Weightlifting Clubs of Lahore participated in the championship. In the 49 kg class, Kiran Iqbal of Rashid Minhas Club bagged first position, Iman Fatima of National Weightlifting Club won second, while Safia Iqbal of Brave Heart Club clinched third position.
In the 55 kg class, Anam Iqbal of Rashid Minhas Club secured first position , Second Position fell to Khadija Yusuf of Wahib Club and the third position was won by Sahar Shafiq of Brave Heart Club. In the 59 kg class, Arifa of Brave Heart Club won first position, Iman Fayyaz of Wohaib Club snatched second position while third position fell to Hadiqa Naseer of National Weightlifting Club. In the 64 kg class, Amina Babar if National Weightlifting Club clinched first position, Madiha Zubair from Brave Heart Club bagged second position and third position was won by Wohaib Club.
In the 76 kg class, Fiza Batul of Wohaib Club won first position with second position secured by Muniba Imtiaz of National Weightlifting Club, and the third position was bagged by Zoha Junaid of University Ground Club.
In the 87 kg class, Wafia Khalid of Wohaib Club, Alisha Fatima of University Ground and Naqiba Anees of University Ground club won first, second and third position respectively. The 87+ kg class was won by Sahrish Mukhtar of Wohaib Club. National Weightlifting Club secured 43 points, Brave Heart Club 37 points, Rashid Minhas Club 30 points, University Ground Club 24 Points while Hajvery Club bagged 8 Points in the championship.
Hafiz Imran Butt, President Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Nuzhat Jabeen Secretary Federation, Vice President Amjad Amin Butt, and Technical officials Aqeel Javed Butt, Muhammad Zahoor, Abdul Khaliq, Asim Akbar, Maryam Aqeel Butt, Naila Butt and Madam Ishrat were present on the occasion. Secretary Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Nuzahat Jabeen distributed trophies and medals among the winners.
