KARACHI – Sigh of relief for Pakistanis as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved Winter Package proposed by the federal government, bringing discounts on additional electricity usage.
Under the approved Winter package, domestic consumers will receive Rs. 11.42 discount on each unit. Industrial consumers will benefit from an 18% discount, amounting to Rs. 5.72 per unit, for additional usage. Winter Package will be effective from December through February, covering three months.
Winter Electricity Bill Package 2024
As the original proposal excluded industrial and commercial consumers, NEPRA has now extended the discount benefits to these groups as well, promoting energy conservation and efficient electricity use during the winter season.
The new initiative aims to help consumers lower their electricity bills while also encouraging sustainable energy practices. Winter package was first announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with Rs. 26 per unit relief for consumers over period when electricity consumption remains at lowest in the year.
The premier announced winter electricity offering discounts for domestic, industrial, and commercial consumers. The package aims to support economic growth by boosting agriculture, industry, and exports.
