LAHORE – A surprise announcement of December 16 holiday in schools in Lahore and other Punjab cities has left parents asking questions whether winter vacations are starting early from December 16 instead of previously announced Dec 20.

A day earlier, deputy commissioners of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore issued notifications, declaring that public and private sector schools and colleges will remain closed in the Punjab capital on December 16, Monday (tomorrow).

They did not mention any reason for the holiday.

Following the issuance of the notifications, it is being speculated that the winter holidays would start early instead of the already announced schedule.

Winter Holidays Schedule in Punjab

The provincial government has announced winter vacation schedule for schools in the region, confirming that break will start from December 20, 2024, and last until January 10, 2025.

The three-week holiday period sufficient break for learners and students ahead of final exams.

What’s the Update?

Parents are contacting the management of schools to know if any change has been made in schedule of winter holidays. The schools officials have replied that currently there is no change in the schedule, adding that they will update the parents timely if any such instructions are issued by the government.
