Pakistan, a country of over 240 million, is coming close to getting new government in centre and all provinces, and talks are underway for the nominations for coveted slots.
As names of Punjab, and KP Chief Ministers have been finalised, all eyes are on Sindh, where different names are being considered amid speculation and consultations about potential candidates.
Former CM Murad Ali Shah is a strong contender for the coveted seat of Sindh Chief Minister. Surprisingly, Pakistan Peoples Party PPP is also considering Faryal Talpur, sister of Asif Zardari, for the role.
Talpur’s name is being considered to explore the possibility of female Chief Minister in Sindh, in footstep of Punjab, where Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz is set to take charge.
No name has been finalised till Wednesday noon as decision-making process is expected to unfold in the coming days, as the PPP holds a clear majority in the Sindh Assembly. With the party’s dominance in the province, the selection of the chief minister is seen as a crucial decision that will shape the political landscape in Sindh for the foreseeable future.
Talpur’s nomination also underscores PPP’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity in governance, as well as the party’s willingness to explore new leadership possibilities.
Pakistan heads toward coalition govt
Political leaders of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), as well as some new faces, announced to form the next government in coalition setup.
Last week, PPP and PML-N start hectic efforts to hammer out some sort of power-sharing formula in the national and Punjab assemblies after PTI-backed independent candidates emerged to the top in the National Assembly polls, with at least 93 seats.
