Where Pakistan Army stands in Global Military Rankings 2024?

Pakistan Army has left behind dozens of developed nations to join the top 10 military forces across the globe.

As militaries around the globe defend borders and territory from external threats, the Pakistani Armed Forces also play a major role by providing help to civil administration, besides remaining at the front line during natural disasters and calamities.

In the Global Firepower Index 2024, the Army of the fifth most populated nation ranked ninth out of 145 countries in military strength.  GPI Index ranked 60 factors including military equipment, financial stability, number of active soldiers, geographic location, and available resources.

The perfect score according to the Global Firepower Index will be 0, and the results show how the position of the country has changed compared to the last years.

The Asian nation secured the ninth spot with an index of 0.1711, a point down as compared to 2023 as Turkiye moves up. Pakistan Army ranked seventh in manpower and active personnel while in terms of airpower, it stands within top-10.

The country has also made to top ten list in terms of tanks, artillery and rockets. It scored below par in naval power, natural resources, and in reserves.

As Islamabad remained among worst economic crisis in recent times, the country’s economy also struggles and earned low ranks in the financial category. The country is placed at 23rd spot in Purchasing Power Parity, 62nd in forex reserves, 47th in Defense budget and 70th in External debt.
