ISLAMABAD – Authorities have announced three holidays from October 14 to 16 for all government and private schools, taking security measures for upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad.
The administration of the twin cities has issued a notification in this regard. Students will enjoy five consecutive holidays in both cities as two weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday will join the three local holidays.
It means schools will remain closed from October 12 to 16 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Schools Reopening Date in Islamabad, Rawalpindi
All schools and other educational institutions will reopen on October 17 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after a break of five days.
SCO Summit in Islamabad
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government summit will be held on October 15 and 16.
Pakistan armed forces have been deployed to secure SCO Summit in capital, as per an Interior Ministry notification.
The army will oversee security from October 5 to 17, taking over from the Rangers. The summit will include heads of state from eight member countries, focusing on regional cooperation. Iran joined as a full member in 2023, with additional nations participating as observers.
