LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of Pakistan including Lahore on Tuesday night and the next two days.
According to the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is likely in Lahore and most parts of the country on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.
Extremely cold weather is likely in upper parts during the period.
Fog/smog will continue to prevail in plains of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Dense fog/smog is likely in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Lahore, Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings during morning and night hours.
Fog update for Motorways, National Highway
Fog/smog may cause closure of portions of Motorways (Peshawar-Swabi, Islamabad-Kallar Kahar, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Faisalabad-Multan and Multan-Sukkur) from late night to early morning.
Less visibility will also affect normal traffic flow on the National Highway.
In Lahore, minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 07-09 C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, biting cold and fog brought life to a standstill by disrupting road, rail and air traffic during the last 24 hours.
Less visibility forced the closure of portions of Motorways and disrupted traffic on alternative routes including the National Highway from late night to early morning.
Fog also disrupted the schedule of international and domestic flights and that of passenger trains.
Skardu remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 10 C below freezing.
In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 09 C.
Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.
