Weather outlook of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; more rains, snowfall expected

PESHAWAR – More rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening/night and Monday, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, more rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected in Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Bajaur, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram and Kohat on Sunday evening/night.

On Monday and Tuesday, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected in Chitral and Dir. Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

Peshawar’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 05-0 7 degrees Celsius on Monday and 04-06 C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over mountains occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Heavy rain, snowfall and hailstorms occurred in isolated places.

Snowfall (inch): Malam Jabba 19, Kalam 10, Chitral 8.8, Dir (Upper 2.5, Lower 02), Parachinar 1.5

Kalat remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 06 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 87 per cent.
