Weather outlook of Islamabad, Pakistan; significant rains predicted

ISLAMABAD – Significant rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday and Friday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely enter western parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night. It will likely grip most upper/central parts of the country on Friday.

Under the influence of this weather system, intermittent rains are predicted in twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Wednesday evening/night and the next two days.

Heavy rainfall may generate flash flood in local nullahs/streams of Balochistan on 26th & 27th April, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir on 27th and 28th April. Landslides are likely in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan from 27th to 29th April. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may affect human life, standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period. Farmers are advised to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions. Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary traveling particularly from 26h to 29th April. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 28-30 C on Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 30-32 C on Thursday and 28-30 C on Friday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over most parts and hot in southern parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast Punjab and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Nawabshah remained the hottest place in the country where maximum temperature was recorded at 42 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 72 per cent.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 52 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 30 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 43 per cent.
