ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during the next two days.
According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave persists over northwestern parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country on Sunday evening/night and the next two days.
Light rain with light snowfall is likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.
Fog/smog is likely to occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
Moderate to dense fog may cause closure of portions of Motorways from late night till early morning.
Less visibility will also disrupt vehicular movement on the National Highway.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Monday and 03-05 C on Tuesday.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09 C on Monday and 06-08 C on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
Extremely cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over northern areas.
Skardu and Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 06 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 82 per cent.
