Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has advised Maulana Fazalur Rehman to wait for next general election.
He expressed these views while talking to media and addressing a launching ceremony of a book “Fighting Shadows” written by Maj-Gen (retd) Samraiz Salik at the Governor’s House.
Opposition should not go for protest and let the government deliver as in the given circumstances Pakistan cannot afford any sit-ins or protests, he added. ‘There are many mafias in the country however those responsible for price-hike and wheat flour crisis cannot escape from punishment. Sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army against terrorism have no such precedence in the world.
Lt-Gen (retd) Shafaat Shah, ex-MNA Rasheed Godail, MPA Saadia Sohail Rana, senior journalist Habib Akram, Dr. Hooria Soharwardi and others were also present.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that terrorism and extremis were the biggest hurdles in development and peace of any country. Pakistan has one of the best armies of the world, which rendered thousands of sacrifices and established peace in the country by defeating terrorism and extremism. Today, Pakistan has become a safest country where foreign cricket teams and big investors were coming in. International tourism journals were terming Pakistan the number one and most secure country for tourism.
‘Insha Allah, together we all will strengthen Pakistan and defeat enemies of the motherland. Talking to media, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that government still has three and half years to govern therefore Maulana Fazalur Rehman instead of protest should wait for next general election.
Maulana Fazalur Rehman had also staged a sit-in earlier and now he should let the government work because at present, country was faced with many challenges than ever before for which unity and solidarity was needed to do away with them.
‘At present, country needs stability and cannot afford any sort of protest or sit-in. Maulana Fazalur Rehman had also staged a protest earlier and he is respectable to us. The government will work out a strategy regarding Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s protest but after assessing the situation. ‘Despite having faced with many challenges, we under the leadership of Imran Khan are advancing further successfully. Though protest is right of the opposition but everyone must take care of interests of the country and the nation’. On this occasion, Samraiz Salik said that his book consisted of chronicles of Pakistan Army’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The book, he said, also explains that how war against terrorism started and how we achieved successes in it? Pakistan has won the war against terrorism within a short span of 15 years, which is an example for the world. The earnings through sale of this book will be deposited in the Pakistan Army’s welfare fund for families of martyrs.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Tuesday said that there is no political future of those who took turns ruling Pakistan.
The governor said in his statement that the opposition was searching for support to save its politics and vowed to defeat those who were conspiring against the bright future of the country.
Chaudhry Sarwar affirmed that all corrupt elements have been eliminated from the political front and rejected by the people. The opposition should fulfill its responsibility of legislation in the parliament instead of protesting on roads.
The governor stressed that matters with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) have been settled. There was no possibility of political influence in the institutions which were being strengthened, he concluded.
