Raoof Hasan, Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, was attacked by group of transgenders in capital city Islamabad on Tuesday.

The assault against the PTI leader was caught on the clip and was shared widely on social media soon after the incident.

CCTV footage shows Hasan walking on the road outside GNN News office wearing a white shirt. PTI leader was spotted having a short conversation and the trans group members attacked him with blade out of the blue. Raoof is reportedly stable.

PTI leaders condemned the attack while capital police are looking into the matter.

PTI response after attack

Omar Ayub, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of being behind an attack on Hasan, calling it an attempt to silence him. He demanded Islamabad police chief either arrest those responsible or step down.

In Senate, Shibli Faraz raised the issue, calling for an immediate response from Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar announced a walkout. Tarar stated that the government would handle the case according to the law and promised updates from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the police chief.

PML-N Senators Irfan Siddiqui and Mushahid Sayed condemned the attack, calling it unacceptable and demanding a thorough investigation. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also condemned the attack, acknowledging Hasan’s seniority and past cooperation with PML-N.
