In view of the increasing corona cases, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Sarah Aslam has issued special SOPs for various sectors.
The secretary stressed that vaccination alone is the only effective treatment for the coronavirus, so it is imperative that all people over the age of 18 be vaccinated immediately.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary informed about the current situation in Punjab with total of 968 new corona cases, adding there are a total of 373,719 patients in the province.
By now, 340,766 patients have fully recovered and number of active cases rose to 21,543 across the province.
In Lahore, a total 14 fatalities were reported whereas a total 40 deaths were reported from corona in the whole province, taking the death toll to 11,410 so far during the corona pandemic.
As many as, 20,496 tests were performed in the last 24 hours and a total of 6,496,126 tests have been conducted so far across the province.
In the last 24 hours, 418 cases were reported in Lahore and 130 in Rawalpindi, 70 cases in Faisalabad, 41 in Sargodha, 34 in Multan and 28 cases were reported in Nankana Sahib.
Khanewal 23 cases were reported, 22 in Gujrawala, 21 in Toba Tek Singh, 20 Jhang and 17 cases each were reported in Rahim Yar Khan and in Sahiwal 17 respectively.
In Khushab, Layyah and Sheikhupura, 15 cases each were reported, in Gujat and Bhawalpur 11 cases, in Sialkot 7 while in Jhelum and Dera Gazi Khan 6 corona cases each were reported.
Whereas, 5 cases in Lodhran, 4 cases each in Muzaffargarh and Okara and 3 cases each in Pakpattan, Hafizabad, Attock, Rajanpur, and Bhawalnagar respectively.
Over all positivity ratio remains 4.7 in Punjab. Positivity ratio in Provincial Capital Lahore was recorded 5.5, in Rawalpindi and Faisalabad 10.3, 2.8 in Multan and 4.1in Gujranwala. Sarah Aslam said that there is available quantity of vaccination across Punjab, adding that people should follow SOPs and wear facemask, maintain 6 feet social distancing and wash hands frequently to be safe from this virus along vaccination.
