LAHORE – The deputy commissioner office has submitted its reply to the Lahore High Court on the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission for holding a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day, August 14.
The lawyer of the Lahore deputy commissioner told the high court that citizens from across the country visit the Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14 to celebrate the Independence Day.
He said allowing the public gathering on this significant day could cause law and order situation, adding that PTI could not be permitted for holding rally on this day.
The reply was submitted when LHC Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir resumed hearing on the petition filed by Akmal Khan.
The reply also carries several other reasons to disallow PTI for holding public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Earlier, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon denied permission to PTI for holding a jalsa in the federal capital city.
