DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Emirati passport is ranked as the most powerful one in the Arab region.
Ministry of Interior is the relevant authority to issue machine-readable passports to its citizens, new born babies of UAE citizens and wife of foreign nationality (by dependency) after receiving certain fee. The UAE nationals can apply for renewal of the passport through several channels, which include:
- General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs/Citizenship Departments (GDRFA)
- Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website by accessing issue a passport eService.
- Applicants may also apply online through the eChannels Residency and Citizenship portal- Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security
- Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah airports
Citizens can renew their passports on an emergency basis at the Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah airports. This service is available 24/7.

Conditions for UAE Passport Renewal
Availability of a valid passport for less than 6 months.
For those over 15 years of age, the signature and fingerprint must be present on the ID card to issue the passport.
Fingerprints and signatures are available for those over 15 years of age who are not classified as People of Determination.

The passport is issued electronically 48 hours after receiving and accepting the service request that meets the conditions
