Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar was met by a delegation of the transgender community at the Central Police Office.
The delegation led by the Victim Support Officer of Liberty Tahaffuz Center, Zanaya Chaudhry, included trans activists Shahzadi Rai, Neeli Rana, trans filmmaker Aleena and Urwa. On this occasion, Victim Support Officers of Punjab Police, Masooma Ali, Kashish Khan and Inza Khanzadi were also present. During the meeting, the problems of the transgender community and the steps taken by the Punjab Police were discussed. The transgender delegation commended the ongoing steps taken by the Punjab Police to facilitate the members of the transgender community.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar told the delegation that police Tahaffuz marakaz provided immediate legal assistance and guidance to the transgender community in more than 1300 different cases this year. Police Tahaffuz markaz provided relief to hundreds of transgender by solving the problems of violence, abuse.
