The district administration has suggested a smart lockdown to be imposed in nine neighbourhoods of Lahore after the number of Coronavirus cases in the city rose alarmingly.
According to the details, deadly second wave of Corona continues to taking its toll on the citizens as the number of victims and deaths continues to rise, which has caused a wave of concern in the government.
According health department, as many as 268 persons were tested positive for Corona in 9 areas of the city. Following the increase in Corona cases, it was decided to implement Smart Lockdown in 9 more areas of the city.
Following the recommendations, the government has imposed smart lockdown in these areas and all the entry and exit of these areas will be closed tonight [Wednesday].
According to the district administration’s recommendations, cases in Johar Town block F, Wapda Town, Valencia, Paragon City, Defense Phase 4 FF-Sector, Sector-AA, Sector-BB and Sector-CC have increased.
Preparations have been made to install smart lockdown in the roads and streets of nine areas of the city, the district administration said, adding that the proposal was made due to the increase in the number of cases.
Smart lockdown will be imposed on 51 cases in Wapda Town and 63 corona tests in Valencia. Smart lockdown is being implemented in Block F-2 of Joher Town, 24 Corona cases in Paragon City and 23 positive cases.
17 in Defense Phase Four Sector Double F, 29 Corona Test positive in Defense Phase Four Sector Double A, Double B and Double C.
In addition, 18 corona cases in Sector 10 of Defense Phase III and 26 corona cases in Gulberg Four Block A and B are being locked.
It has been decided to implement lockdown policy in 11 positive cases in Defense Sector N, positive. Preparations have been made to install Smart Lockdown in Punjab University Boys Hostel No. 11 after passing 6 Corona Test positive.
Earlier in the day, two schools in the city were closed down after teachers and students there reported Coronavirus.
Last week, the Punjab Government had sealed New Muslim Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Garden Town, Shadman, and Askari XI.
All hospitals and medical stores in these areas have been allowed to remain open throughout the day.
Milk shops will be open from 7am to 7pm.
Grocery stores will be open from 7am to 7pm.
Bakeries will be open from 7am to 7pm.
Petrol pumps will be open from 9am to 7pm.
Residents are not allowed to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary and people without masks are being fined.
On November 18, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government will not go towards a complete lockdown. “Areas with fewer cases will be monitored and a lockdown will only be imposed there if cases increase.”
