Three alleged bandits were killed in a shootout with police in the Massan Police jurisdiction in Jhang on Sunday.
According to police sources, the police indulged in the shootout with six robbers, riding motorbikes, at Khota bridge area. The criminals were fleeing after committing a crime in Chand Bharwana area, the police said. “The policemen signaled the motorbike riders to stop but they opened fire on the policemen instead in an attempt to flee the scene. The police, however, started chasing the fleeing accused. At Khota Bridge the accused started indiscriminate firing on the police.” However, as the fire subsided and the police went forward, they found three bandits dead after sustaining firing by their accomplices before fleeing the scene, the police claimed.
Police have launched search for three bandits fled from the scene after firing, the officials said. Identity of the deceased suspects could not be ascertained yet while the police have shifted the bodies to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
