Anti-polio vaccinator attacked, forced out of village

A team of Anti-Polio vaccinators was attacked with axe and forced out of village here on Sunday.
According to police sources, the incident was occurred village Ahli Langrani, Tehsil Lalian, where a team of anti-polio workers comprising LHWs – Ghulam Fizza; Zahida Parveen and Area Incharge Muhammad Imran was administering polio drops to children. In the meanwhile, a villager later identified as Tahir Abbas s/o Khizer Hayat stopped them from vaccination and and attacked with an axe. The team was forced to get out of village. Later on, the police were called in who arrested the accused and supervised and protected the vaccination drive. The Lalian Police have registered the case and arrested the accus.
DC Chiniot Muhammad Riaz took notice of the incident and directed police protection to each of the polio vaccination workers team in district. He telephoned CEO Health Authority Dr. Mushtaq and directed him to let no child un-vaccinated due to such incidents.
