LAHORE – Students of all public and private schools in Pakistan are expected to enjoy long weekend, starting from September 14 but it all depends upon the date when Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) will be celebrated.

The Central Ruet Hilal Committee is set to hold a meeting tomorrow, September 4, for sighting of moon for Islamic month of Rabiul Awal. It is expected that the moon for the new Islamic month would sight tomorrow.

If the moon is sighted, the first of Rabiul Awal will be observed on September 5 (Wednesday) while the Eid Miladu Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet (PBUH), will be marked on September 16, which falls on Monday.

There is a public holiday across the country on Eid Miladun Nabi or 12 Rabiul Awal.

As schools and other educational institutions will be closed on Saturday (Sept 14) and Sunday (Sept 15) in wake of weekly offs, the students will get long weekend in case the 12 Rabiul Awal falls on Sept 16.

It means, there will be three consecutive holidays from September 14 to 16 for schools in Pakistan if Eid Miladun Nabi is celebrated on Sept. 16.

If the moon is not sighted, the Eid will fall on Sept 17, Tuesday.
