Tax collection enhanced by 17pc before Covid-19: Asad

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has clarified the tax collection was enhanced by about seventeen percent by February this year before the outbreak of Covid-19.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Monday, Asad Umar disputing the figures given by PML-N leader Khawaja Asif, said the foreign direct investment doubled when compared with the previous year.
He said our foreign exchange reserves also increased by fifty percent which strengthened the value of our rupee. He said the current account deficit reduced by seventy three percent by March this year.
The Minister Planning & Development said Imran Khan came to power with the backing of the people after struggle of twenty two years and now the Prime Minister has taken on the mafia.
Referring to the projects to be executed in Karachi, Asad Umar said the green line project will be completed this year while the first phase of Karachi Circular Railway will be started this year.
He said that work on 206 billion rupees Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway project will also be started and fifty billion rupees have been allocated for the project this year.
The Minister said the K-4 water project will also be executed with the cooperation of Sindh government.
Asad Umar said credit also goes to present government for simultaneously initiating work on three major hydel projects including Diamer Basha, Dasu and Mohmand dams.
