Tarbela Dam nearing maximum storage level

LAHORE – The water level at the major reservoir Tarbela Dam is nearing the maximum storage level due to widespread monsoon rains in the upper parts of Pakistan.

The water level at Tarbela Dam reached 1546 feet above mean sea level with live storage of 5.536 million acre-feet on Tuesday, just four feet below the maximum conservation level of 1550 feet. The minimum operating level at Tarbela Dam is 1402 feet.

The water level at Mangla Dam reached 1210.55 feet as against a maximum conservation level of 1242 feet and minimum operating level of 1050 feet. Live storage at Mangla Dam was 4.943 MAF.

The water level at Chashma reached 642 feet with live storage of 0.063 MAF as against the minimum operating level of 638.15 feet and maximum conservation level of 649 feet.

The position of the river flows at different places today is as under:

Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 283600 cusecs and Outflows 254600 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 64200 cusecs and Outflows 64200 cusecs, Khairabad Bridge: Inflows 319300 cusecs and Outflow 319300, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 22300 cusecs and Outflows 10000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 68900 cusecs and Outflows 51600 cusecs.

Barrages:

Jinnah: Inflows 318100 cusecs and Outflows 310100 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows: 308600 cusecs and Outflows 313800 cusecs, Taunsa: Inflows 243500 cusecs and Outflows 227500 cusecs, Guddu: Inflows 428100 cusecs and Outflows 398300 cusecs Sukkur: Inflows 392100 cusecs and Outflows 350500 cusecs Kotri: Inflows 184400 cusecs and Outflows 143900 cusecs Trimmu: Inflows 70200 cusecs and Outflow 56700 cusecs, Panjnad: Inflows 42900 cusecs and Outflows 29500 cusecs.
