LAHORE – The Punjab government has taken another major step for executing its plan of launching a Switzerland-styled tourist glass train, which will run from Rawalpindi to Murree.
In latest development the provincial government has invited bids from consultants for the tourist glass train, which will definitely boost tourism in the region.
This train will be designed in a style similar to that of Switzerland, allowing tourists to enjoy views from all sides as it travels from Rawalpindi to Murree.
All local and international consultants have been asked to submit their expressions of interest along with necessary documents to the PMA head office by November 11.
This train will operate under the Punjab Mass Transit System, and the bidding process will be fully transparent in accordance with PEPA rules. The successful consultant will prepare the feasibility report for the project.
A company or consortium will also be eligible to apply, and the Punjab government has called an introductory meeting for consultants on October 24 to facilitate the process.
The distance from Rawalpindi to Murree is around 80 kilometers and the train services will offer breathtaking views to the visitors if the project is implemented.
