Summit held on social behaviour change communication

The Population Welfare Department of Punjab recently organized a two-day summit on Social Behaviour Change Communication in collaboration with TCL Greenstar. Notable figures like Director General Saman Rai, Additional Secretary Dr. Naila Altaf, CEO Green Star Social Marketing Pakistan Syed Aziz Ul-Rab, Chief of Party Ghazanfar Abbas, and others chaired the event. The summit featured insights from senior journalists, intellectuals, researchers, and columnists who shared their experiences and knowledge gained from various travels.

Director General Saman Rai highlighted the crucial role of media in shaping public perceptions and stressed the urgent need for public awareness regarding the significance of small families. She proposed the implementation of a Think Tank to gather opinions from journalists, researchers, and intellectuals for effective population welfare strategies. Rai emphasized the importance of educating students and newly married couples about the benefits of small families. Globally, steps have been taken to ensure equal adoption rates of family planning among men and women. Rai underscored the essential role of men in family planning programs and advocated for the removal of socio-cultural barriers.
